National Service Scheme (NSS)

The National Service Scheme (NSS) is a Central Sector Scheme of Government of India, Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports. It provides opportunity to the student youth to take part in various government led community service activities & programmes.The sole aim of the NSS is to provide hands on experience to young students in delivering community service. Students from SICM have volunteered to take part in various community service programmes.

NSS encourages students to become socially responsible citizens and helps them realize and experience the joy of selfless philanthropic work.

Human and social development is the primary focus of our NSS unit. We aspire to see “Community Mindedness” in the responses of our students towards local, national and global issues.

Objectives of NSS forum:

  • To impart selfless service mentality among the students.
  • To create awareness among the people about blood donation, health, cleanliness, patriotism.

Roles and Responsibilities: Understand themselves in relation to their community.

  • Identify the needs and problems of the community and involve them in problem solving process.
  • Develop among them a sense of social and civic responsibility.
  • Utilize their knowledge in finding practical solution to individual and community problems.
  • Develop competence required for group living and sharing of responsibilities.
  • Gain skills in mobilizing community participation.
  • Develop capacity to meet emergencies and natural disasters.
  • Practice national integration and social harmony.

Youth Red Cross Wing

The Youth Red Cross unit always plays a proactive role in imbibing and spreading medical consciousness among our students and the general public. The unit believes in maximizing the student's talent, assist them in learning novel skills, and meet new people, all the while making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. YRC conducts mega blood donation campaign every year to reiterate its core belief that donating blood is tantamount to giving life. The YRC strives to reiterate its prime belief that making a difference to life is of paramount significance.

  • To organize blood donation camp every year.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Inculcation of Humanitarian Values.

  • Advocate National / International Friendship.
  • Promote habit of blood donation & working as volunteer for Red Cross society.

ECOMITRA - Nature Club

Eco Mitra is a forum for students and teachers who are interested in participating in the green crusade. The forum aims to create awareness about the importance of preserving and nurturing our environment. The forum conducts walkathons, bicycle rallies, workshops and inter-collegiate competitions to garner support for the green cause from students as well as the general public.

Environmental concerns are rising and the education system support helps create a future generation that is equipped with the content knowledge and the skills to lead efforts to sustain the planet. The forum's duty is to increase the eco consciousness and social responsibility of students by providing them access to innovative educational programs and resources. Eco-Mitra is a platform for volunteering and contributing time to make positive changes in the community. Everyone has something to offer, and the Eco Club is a corner to join hands and make a difference.

  • To promote Eco-friendly campus.

Rotaract Club

Rotaract-Club Rotaract-Club

"Rotaract" stands for "Rotary in Action", although the name originally comes from a combination of "Rotary" and "Interact", the high school level program created by Rotary International in 1962.

Rotaract originally began as a Rotary International youth program in 1968 at Charlotte North Rotary Club in North Carolina, United States, and has grown into a major organization of 10,680 clubs spread around the world and over 203,000 members in 189 countries.

Rotaract focuses on the development of young adults as leaders in their communities and workplaces, by providing service.

Motto: The students involve themselves in Rotaract, serve the society by social service activities and develop a sense of responsibility.

Objectives of Eco Mitra

  • Students also establish connect with industrial experts, corporates and entrepreneurs which help young students to build a good rap over which in turn helps them in their career growth, placements and internship projects.
  • Rotaract is a platform where students mingle with various facets of society and developed leadership traits and self-confidence to face hardships of life.

Roles and Responsibilities

It consists of a corporate hierarchy which functions as a registered company; the process of recruitment is though selection and training done by parent Rotaract Club that is Rotary Bangalore South Parade.
